Overview of Services Provided by Our Flagship Program — Tech-Ready Seniors Tech-Ready Seniors is the flagship workforce development initiative of the Alliance for Nonprofits Inc, designed to empower adults aged 55 and older with the technology skills needed to re-enter or advance in today’s digital job market. As the workplace continues to evolve, many experienced workers face barriers due to limited digital skills. Tech-Ready Seniors bridges this gap through targeted training, mentorship, and employer connections. This program addresses a critical need in Northern Virginia and similar regions where workforce reductions, age bias, and rapidly advancing technology have left many older adults unable to compete for jobs they are fully qualified to perform. Key Services Provided 1. Digital Skills Training o Hands-on instruction in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace o Virtual communication tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet o Job search tools including LinkedIn, Indeed, CareerBuilder, and others o Cybersecurity awareness and safe online practices o Use of industry-specific platforms such as CRM and project management tools 2. Employment Readiness Support o Resume writing and optimization for digital platforms o Guidance on navigating job boards and completing online applications o Interview preparation and soft skill development o Personalized onboarding support for new workplace technologies 3. Mentoring and Peer Support o Assignment of experienced mentors to guide participants o Peer-to-peer learning through a structured buddy system o Regular check-ins and coaching for skill reinforcement and confidence building 4. Job Placement and Employer Engagement o Direct connections with local employers committed to age-inclusive hiring o Employer briefings and roundtables to promote hiring of older workers o Access to job fairs, virtual hiring events, and targeted job leads 5. Program Flexibility and Accessibility o Training available in person and online to accommodate different learning needs o Culturally responsive materials designed for diverse communities o Support for participants with limited internet access or devices Program Outcomes Tech-Ready Seniors aims to train and support over 300 older adults annually, increasing their chances of securing stable employment, achieving financial independence, and contributing to the local economy. The program also supports a more inclusive, multi-generational workforce by promoting the value and strengths of older workers.
